ICD – I Can Donate Relief Programme (Dominica)

A joint effort with members of the private sector, including Krishna Vaswani, sales and marketing director at Quality Incorporations VII Limited, spearheaded our decision to join the Dominica relief effort.

“Together we achieve more,” says Judith Bruce, HR Manager at ICD. “I like this idea of us working together,” she adds.

So in conjunction with Doreen Samuels, HR Manager at British Caribbean Insurance Company (BCIC), WIHCON and CGM Gallagher – who has a branch in Dominica – the group of companies began making preparations for donations.

Beginning on September 29th, a donation of 12 barrels by Virginia Dare Ja. Ltd., was set up across the island in various branches to collect goods for the people of Dominica. Staff, as well as customers, were encouraged to purchase an extra item at the supermarket and drop off as a donation at either BCIC’s Ocho Rios, Montego Bay or Savanna-la-mar branch.

In keeping with Vaswani’s decision to only send tangible items and not monetary support, ICD and BCIC both donated some $500,000 worth of food, clothing and other relief items to the cause.

Since the first shipment a few weeks ago, ICD has been eagerly waiting to join forces with other entities, such as Food For The Poor, to provide additional relief.

To all who contributed and participated, ICD says THANK YOU and looks forward to your continued support.
