ICD Group has acquired a 50 per cent stake in a Canadian business process outsourcing (BPO) company for an undisclosed sum and will open a 50-seat call centre in Kingston next month.
The strategic partnership positions Atlantic Canada-based Advantage Communications Inc (ACI) in a high potential near-shore market and gives ICD a foothold in the fast growing BPO industry.
Vikram Dhiman, Chief Operating Officer of ICD, told the Business Observer yesterday that the availability of talent in Jamaica’s ICT sector, the hard currency earning ability and the attractiveness of Jamaica as a BPO destination were among the factors that drove the company to make the strategic move.
