WICHON to build over 90 houses in Harbour View

West Indies Home Contractors Limited (WICHON) is to construct over 90 homes in Harbour View, Kingston.

Ground is expected to be broken on the development this September at Harbour Head and it will feature 80 one and two bedroom apartments and 16 townhouses.

“Harbour View was built by WIHCON; it is ‘near and dear’ to us, so when the opportunity came to collaborate with the government and Ministry of Housing we welcomed it wholeheartedly,” the company said.

WICHON noted that its close proximity to the Norman Manley International Airport, and ease of access to New Kingston and downtown Kingston, makes it attractive to its target market of persons aged 35 to 60 years.

It also said the development would be ideal for real estate investors as it could attract renters from the Caribbean Maritime Institute, and airport and airline staff seeking to purchase a home.

The company is looking at pricing the units between $9.8 million and $13.95 million, however, those prices aren’t final.

The gated community will feature 24-hour security, a children’s playground, half basketball court, and garbage house among other amenities.

Construction is expected to take up to two years.

WICHON recently built the Bermonde housing development in East Queens Park, Greater Portmore.

Other recent residential projects include the Meadows of Irwin in Montego Bay, Somerset Homes, built just off Graham Heights St Andrew and the Jacaranda Homes in Innswood in St. Catherine.
