Saundra Bailey, BSc, LLB, LLM, ACII, AIRM
Mrs. Saundra Bailey is responsible for overseeing subsidiary operations, achieving product profitability and developing and securing long-term business plans for offices in Barbados, Grenada, Jamaica, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and St. Kitts and Nevis. She is a member of the Board of Directors of CGM Gallagher Insurance Brokers subsidiaries and Mecacem Insurance Limited. Mrs. Bailey has more than 30 years of experience in the insurance industry, with primary focus on retail (all classes of business), Reinsurance Brokeringing and Risk Management. Mrs. Bailey is the President of the Kiwanis Club of Eastern St. Andrew, the Chairman of Sistren Theatre Collective and a director of various public and private sector boards locally and regionally.
Jeffry Johnson, BSc, JD, LEC
Jeffry Johnson, reinsurance broker and attorney-at-law, has over 15 years’ experience in the general insurance industry garnered from both underwriting and broking. During the past 10 years, he received specialized training in designing and placing bespoke facultative reinsurance and treaty programmes through internships with Lloyd’s of London, England. Mr. Johnson is a graduate of the College of Insurance and Professional Studies, the Pennsylvania State University and The Norman Manley Law School. His interests include community volunteerism, football and cycling.
Mureen Thomas, BSc, MBA, ACII, CIB
Ms. Mureen Thomas has more than 25 years of experience in the general insurance industry. She has honed her skills as a true insurance professional having worked in both underwriting and brokering. Ms. Thomas has been a member of the CGM Gallagher team for more than 19 years, working in various capacities in both Retail and Reinsurance Brokering and Captives Management. She has also held positions of responsibility in the insurance industry, serving as a Director of the Insurance Institute of Jamaica, Director of the College of Insurance and Professional Studies and is currently a Vice President of the Jamaica Society of Insurance Professionals and Technicians (JSIPT) with responsibility for Education and Development.
Karissa Beharry-Shepherd, BSc, MS
Mrs. Karissa Beharry-Shepherd is responsible for the group’s human resource development function and as such manages HR strategy development and operations. She is also involved in developing HR management solutions and policies for the group. Mrs. Beharry-Shepherd has more than 9 years of experience in human resource development and strategic thinking and has an in-depth knowledge and understanding of employment law, labour codes as well as customs and practices for the Caribbean region. Her past work experience included working with an international conglomerate. She has gained extensive understanding of cultural differences across the Caribbean territories, which has given her the skill of promoting cultural sensitivity to ensure that communication across borders is effective. She also has extensive experience in developing HR policies and procedures using country legislation and best practices, while aiming for transparency and fairness in the treatment of employees.
Matthew Pragnell, BA
Matthew Pragnell is currently the Chief Executive Officer of CGM Gallagher Group, now a partnership between The Arthur J. Gallagher Group and ICD. He entered the industry in 1981 with Marsh/CT Bowring. Through professional affiliations with Hogg/Aon he is an insurance specialist particularly knowledgeable in the area of reinsurance, property, liability and agricultural insurance.
In March 1996, Mr. Pragnell was appointed Managing Director of IIB, the joint venture brokerage for Hogg/Aon and ICD. Since then, the IIB ‘footprint’ evolved to the CGM Gallagher Group which now has operations in Barbados, Jamaica, St Vincent, St Lucia, St Kitts and Nevis and Grenada, with additional correspondents/licenses throughout the region. He was also integral in establishing the CGM Gallagher Group SPC Captive based in Grand Cayman.
Michael Tomlin, BA, MBA, CIP
Mr. Michael Tomlin has 12 years experience in insurance brokering, including two spent at global insurance broker Aon. His ten-year stay at CGM Gallagher has included account executive and management positions at the Group’s main Barbados and Eastern Caribbean office. In addition to general commercial insurance brokering, Mr. Tomlin is involved with the placing of marine risks and has been instrumental in the development of CGM Gallagher designed world-wide liability cover for hotels, tour operators and resorts.
Christopher Sibblis, ACCA, FCCA
Mr. Christopher Sibblis is the head of the Group’s financial operations. He began his career as an auditor in KPMG’s manufacturing and insurance group, where he became familiar with regional auditing standards and best practices. He has over 20 years external auditing experience in the manufacturing and insurance broking sectors. Prior to joining CGM Gallagher in 2000 as Financial Controller, Mr. Sibblis was employed to the finance department of Facey Commodity Co. Ltd. Mr. Sibblis is FCCA certified and based in Barbados.
John Rocheford , ACCA, FCCA
Mr. Rocheford is operationally responsible for the Barbados, St Lucia, St. Vincent and St. Kitts & Nevis offices, as well as overseas employee benefits for the region. He has worked in the insurance industry for more than 30 years, 28 of which have been with CGM Gallagher. He’s considered the most knowledgeable and experienced Employee Benefits practitioner in the Eastern Caribbean. Mr. Rocheford is the past Chairman of The National Petroleum Corporation of Barbados and a past Deputy Chairman of The Duke of Edinburgh Award Programme in Barbados.
James Pawson, FCII
Mr. James Pawson is the former Managing Director of Zenith Insurance Brokers, a position he held for 25 years. Mr. Pawson has more than 40 years of experience in the insurance sector. After CGM Gallagher’s acquisition of Zenith, Mr. Pawson became a director of CGM Gallagher Group’s Jamaica subsidiary and a member of the senior management team. Before the position at Zenith, Mr. Pawson served as general manager of Crawford Fletcher Insurance. He is the Past President of Jamaica Insurance Brokers Association, former treasurer of the Insurance College of Jamaica and past president of the Rotary Club of Downtown Kingston.
Scott Stollmeyer
Mr. Scott Stollmeyer’s insurance career began in 2000 as an Account Executive at AON Captive Insurance Managers (Barbados) Ltd. Over the next few years Scott has amassed more than 16 years’ experience in the international business, financial and insurance industries. In his new role as Managing Director for Barbados & Eastern Caribbean, Scott will be responsible for ensuring that our strategic and operational objectives are achieved. Mr. Stollmeyer has a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting. He is also a current member of the Barbados National Golf team and has represented the island at the highest amateur events.
