    Monique serves as General Counsel for British Caribbean Insurance Company Limited [BCIC]. In January 2011, Monique created BCIC’s first In-house Legal Department which currently has conduct of over 80% of the company’s litigation matters. As head of the Legal and Compliance Department, her main functions include, representing individual and corporate policyholders in civil actions, negotiating settlements involving complex and multi-party disputes, providing legal support and advice for the company’s management team and directing programmes and procedures to ensure compliance with Anti-Money Laundering Legislation and insurance regulations. Monique served in a senior management capacity as Claims Manager and Legal Counsel at Victoria Mutual Insurance Company Limited, which merged with BCIC in January 2011. Monique has written on a number of insurance legal issues and most recently published an article on Procedures for Insuring Deceased Persons’ Assets. She is Vice President of the Claims and Underwriting Sub-Committee of the Insurance Association of Jamaica [IAJ] and serves as an Arbitrator on the IAJ’s panel of Arbitrators.
